Summers are for getaways, and since we can't go too far right now, I am so excited to share my experience from a recent visit to Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat. A beautiful property just 1.5 hours east of Toronto, get ready for a true glamping experience filled with luxe tents and mild wildlife encounters. This was an early birthday gift from my boyfriend Joseph and we *unfortunately* picked one of the chilliest weekends to visit. That being said, we had bright sunshine during the day which made for an amazing time, and we pumped up the heaters to keep our tent cozy in the evening.

We stayed in the Huckleberry Safari tent which was incredibly clean, which is greatly appreciated during this unsettling time of COVID-19. Luckily, they had just opened the hot tub and pool a few days before we arrived so nearly all amenities were available - aside from massages and turn-down service. I've heard that the tents have been booking up quick, so click here to book a stay at Whispering Springs (2 night minimum).

Food
There's a small BBQ, coffee maker, fire pit and fridge available for each tent. No hairdryer or kettle, but I believe the kettles can be requested (they were out when we asked). Our meals were pretty simple, consisting of BBQ-friendly items like corn, steak, shrimp, and sides/lunches like bagged salad mix, fruit, veggies and hummus, and simple sandwiches. Although pricy at $30+, we LOVED the pizza we ordered from their kitchen the first night we arrived. Definitely worth it, we shared the truffle prosciutto one.
Very important item to pack for me was a good pair of slippers with a rubber sole. The floor isn't particularly warm, and this will also keep your socks and bed clean. We did have 2 heaters in our tent, but came prepared with an additional tiny space heater which was fabulous.

This Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Icaridin Insect Repellent was so clutch for sitting around the firepit and walking through the woods. Icardin is an alternative to DEET, these products smell great and work well. I think DEET may work better, but the verdict is still out. The real winner is their Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Icaridin Insect Repellent Towelettes - how GENIUS! I keep one of these in my handbag for evening dinner parties and gave one to Joe to keep in his golf bag. These are an absolute must, and also wouldn't need to go into a liquids bag for travel.

The property is quite large and beautifully landscaped. They offer morning yoga for $20 and the spa offers massages and other treatments - of course, closed for the moment. They have such a sweet little gift shop corner of the reception tent, and everyone was really nice. If you do get a drink at the bar, make it a canned bevvy - their margarita was pretty bad.
