NEW Bakuchiol Reface Pads from Indeed Labs | Review

Bakuchiol Reface Pads Indeed Labs Review

I'm in limbo with my skin right now, since my BHA liquid toners don't seem to be doing much, and my trusty lactic acid treatments aren't as trusty as they once were. All signs are pointing to Retinol as my star ingredient for daily skin maintenance, so I've definitely hopped on the bandwagon.

My first post covered the gorgeous Elizabeth Arden's Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum. I still adore these little capsules so much for the serum's silky texture and skin-perfecting results. The serum smooth out lines, refine my pores, reduce redness and increase tone overall.

Notice anyone familiar in that video? ;)

Welcome, an alternative to traditional or prescription retinol: Indeed Labs' Bakuchiol Reface Pads. These pads are quickly gaining momentum worldwide because bakuchiol is a more gentle, plant-based alternative to something like Indeed Labs' (award-winning) retinol reface product. With retinol, many will experience side effects including dryness and irritation, making retinol an intimidating ingredient to try out. I wanted to share this product with you since I have super sensitive skin, and always want the best results for my complexion - with minimal effort.

Bakuchiol Reface Pads Indeed Labs

"Use these pads morning and night after cleansing to brighten, tighten, hydrate, firm, soften and smooth without irritation. Indeed Laboratories™ bakuchiol reface™ pads retail for $19.99 CAD and are available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart and indeedlabs.com"

What is Bakuchiol?

Bakuchiol is NOT retinol. It is a plant-based ingredient that works to increase cell turnover, restore skin elasticity and has been clinically proven to be effective in reducing acne. This gentle retinol alternative does not increase photosensitivity and is safe for daytime and daily use.

NOTE: I would strongly suggest starting off with using this product every other day, to ensure that you ease your skin into it. I did notice redness when I used the pads for two days in a row.

What kind of skin do I have?

I recently did a skincare assessment on Renee Rouleau's blog and this is what I got:

SKIN TYPE 2 - Combination

  • Enlarged pores and produces oil mostly in t-zone
  • Skin feels tight, irritated or sensitive when harsh products are used
  • Needs hydration without heavy oils or pore-clogging ingredients
  • May get occasional mild breakouts and cysts (weekly or monthly)
  • May get clogged pores and blackheads
  • Post-blemish red/dark scars that linger
  • Wants to keep skin healthy and smooth
  • Concerned about aging
  • May have hyperpigmentation (brown spots)
spot. on.

What else is in them?

Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is another star ingredient in the action-packed Reface Pads. It can brighten the complexion, reduce wrinkles, reduce water loss, improve elasticity and fight inflammation while improving barrier function. Discolouration is diminished when using niacinamide, and skin tone and texture is revived. Niacinamide also helps regulate the sebum content of the skin and the anti-inflammatory activity, both of which are essential for anti-acne care. Score!

My results?

As I said, you need to ease into this product because it is very effective, therefore the ingredients are strong. I do not have before-and-after photos to show you since my hormones affect my skin so much, I need more time using these pads to show a big improvement texture. That being said, Bakuchiol Reface pads have definitely helped to even out the tone of my forehead and cheeks, where acne scars and marks hang around the longest. This is an awesome item to keep with you on vacation for a quick and easy treatment, or to gift to an expectant mother since retinol is not advised for those who are pregnant.

TIP!

When applying Bakuchiol Reface Pads, or any active ingredient for that matter, I'd strongly suggest avoiding the creased areas of your face: around the corners of your nose, marionette or smile lines, under the jaw or anywhere near the eyes. This is because active ingredients like acids, retinol, etc. can pool into the creases and cause serious irritation and itching. Instead, swipe these pads over the forehead, down the nose, on the cheeks and chin. If you have back or chest breakouts, this could be a great option to try as well.

Bakuchiol Pads Review

Tl;dr? The Bakuchiol Reface Pads deliver all the benefits of a retinol but are designed for those on the go and looking for a natural alternative without the side effects. These skin renewing pads are gentle enough for daily use, daytime or nighttime, and use a combination of proven ingredients to deliver noticeable and lasting results. Let me know how you get along with them!
