Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Crayon | Review & Swatches

wet n wild matte velvet

Liquid lipstick, contouring palettes, and glowing highlighters. Makeup trends are forever evolving, and I always enjoy indulging in a select few. On an almost daily basis, I wear concealer, mascara, brows and blush. Lip balm is a give in, especially in the winter. So the one product that I just can't get behind is lipstick. I'll swipe some on for a night out or special meeting, but the smudging and resulting dryness never seems to be worth it.

One of the new products that I'm trying out from wet n wild is their Velvet Matte Lip Color Crayon. Available in 9 shades, these pencils are a great drugstore find when you're looking for a fresh and fun lip colour for the spring.

Pros:
  • Super wearable colours
  • Convenient and sleek packaging
  • Good pigmentation
  • No weird flavour
  • Wears off evenly

Cons:
  • Usually drying on easily chapped lips (I apply a lip balm before)
  • The tip does not retract all the way down, which causes a mess in the cap
  • The packaging may be deceiving since the colours are more neutral than expected

I always apply a light layer of lip balm before the velvet matte pencils. I love how they are a lipstick/lip liner hybrid, combining the long-wearing matte finish of a liner with the smoothness of a lipstick. My favourite shade is A364 "Charred Cherry", and A366 "Berry Tales" (worn here) comes in as a close second.

  1. They all look amazing on you! I really like the shade range, too, though they are surprisingly wearable.
