Have You Ever Wanted To Become A Mermaid? | AquaMermaid School Review

AquaMermaid

Calling all Ariels at heart: you can now become mermaids in Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, Quebec City, Norfolk County, Kitchener-Waterloo, Phoenix and Chicago!

A few weeks ago Sylvie and I spent an afternoon learning how to swim like a mermaids in downtown Toronto. AquaMermaid is a for any gal of any age who wants to host a party or hang out with a friend while learning to swim with a monofin. I've been seeing these tails swimming around on YouTube and Instagram for years, and the idea of a mermaid class sounded like so much fun. Let's dive in!

Mermaid School

We were so surprised by the location of AquaMermaid since it seems that the uptown, North York crowd would be more interested in the activity. That being said, it's cool that the downtown crew can escape to a swimming pool in the winter months for an underwater workout that will make you feel fabulous. Now don't be fooled by Ariel's quick moves, learning to swim with the monofin is challenging - you'll definitely feel it in your core and upper body.

If you're looking for a spa-day feel, AquaMermaid is a bit more of a community centre activity that you will likely feel pretty exhausted after.

The instructors at University Settlement (23 Grange Rd, Toronto) are well experienced and very nice. The group was average sized, 14 participants for a class that lasted about 1.5 hours. Wouldn't this be a fun outdoor activity in the summer? I'm thinking mermaids on location for a birthday party, or even an evening class with friends. 1-hour classes start $60 each, though sometimes you can snag a deal on Groupon.

After the class we had a yummy lunch at Evergreen Thai, followed by a bit of retail therapySee our vlog here:
