Today, I’m turning the spotlight onto one of my favourite local jewellery designers. Joanna Furtado is the owner and creative mind behind Belle Boutique Jewellery. Her pieces are mesmerizing, and she is a true artist at heart.
I have had the pleasure of working with Joanna for a few years now, and I always love interacting with her clients. Along with parties and private sales, Belle Boutique is consistently featured at The One of a Kind Winter Show in Toronto. I have never seen anything similar to her designs before, and everyone seems to find at least one piece that absolutely fits their style. We recently took some photos of her pieces for her new online shop, which you can see here.
Here are a few of my favourites from her current line:

“When I was young, I always found ways to turn everyday items into treasures. Much to my parent’s dismay, household items were taken apart and strung into unique pieces of jewellery.”
Joanna has inspired me to step out of my comfort zone with accessories and design, since any conversation piece is one to wear on the regular. I always look forward to seeing her new designs every season, since she never makes two the same.
“I am proud to say that most of my work still consists of recycled materials and a hearty mixture of earthly treasures and modern inventions. I love to include semi-precious stones and shells in my work and feel that these natural elements contain healing power that is woven into each piece specifically for the person it ends up with.”
Joanna offers custom designs for weddings and special occasions, which may incorporate old or broken jewellery and heirlooms that are transformed into new wearable works of art.

If you have any favourite local designers, let me know! I always love supporting fellow artisans.
